Descendants of
George Washington Haden, later Hayden, born 1820 in Meigs County, Ohio,
are seeking his ancestors. Project members 70108 and 107359 believe he
may be related to Richard Hadden who married Catherine Qickie in Bath
County, VA, in 1800. A male line descendant of this Richard Hadden
would be a welcome addition to the DNA Project.
Even though George Washington went by the surname Haden, he does not appear to be related to the Hadens in the Project because the genetic distance is 6 to 10 at 25 markers. There is only a 30% chance that a common male ancestor is shared within 24 generations, about the time that surnames came into use.
