Irish
Haydens
The
number of lines of Haydens whose ancestors emigrated from Ireland
continues to grow in the Project. None appear to be related to any of
the others. The hypothesized connection of 34102 and 37566 shown below
is highly unlikely. In fact, there is a less than 1% chance that they
share a common ancestor within 16 generations.
There is a low, but finite probability of just under 5%, that 34102 and
N18579 share a recent common ancestor. Since N18579 is at only 12
markers, we are only able to not rule it out at this point. N18579
also has a genetic distance of 1 from
descendants of Francis and William who we already know are unlikely to
share a common Hayden male ancestor within 20 generations or so.
So, we cannot rule out that he shares a common ancestor with Francis or
William. N18579 has
indicated that he is going to upgrade to more markers which will be
helpful in answering these questions.
Kits N18579 and 99301 have a genetic distance of 1 at 12 markers. We
know from the documented pedigrees that they do not share a common
Hayden male ancestor with 5 generations. There is about a 27% chance
that they do share a common Hayden male ancestor within 10 generations.
Since both are at 12 markers, this means we cannot rule out a common
ancestor but it is not confirmed with any degree of confidence. More
markers are required before we can better access the possibility of a
common ancestor. Kit 99301 also has a genetic distance of 1 from 80211,
a descendant of Francis of MD resulting in a 17% chance they share a
common Hayden ancestor within 10 generations. Increasing the number of
markers of 99301 (80211 is at 67 markers) is required to verify if a
common Hayden male ancestor is likely.
N32622
is not related to any other of the project members as he is haplogroup
J1 while the others are all R1b haplogroups.
ABI-01 results are from another testing company with only 16 markers in
common with those of FamilyTreeDNA. ABI-01 does not have documented
connection to Ireland and claims none. I have arbitrarily placed ABI-01
in the Irish group because his pattern most closely matches N18579 with
a genetic distance of 2 and both lines trace to Canada.
